The blood is an irritant to brain tissue and can actually cause damage. The drain is removing blood from the spaces surrounding the brain. The brain does heal very slowly and commands a high proportion of the body’s resources, so recovery is often a slow process. They are likely keeping her in the medically induced coma to make her more comfortable and as an aid in her recovery. Have faith and patience it is often a long slow process. What was her general health prior to the rupture?
