I just wanted to point this out because I have reading all about dental issues due to my own problems for the last few weeks. You don't have the same issues that I do, but I have run across some other posts from other people who have symptoms very similar to yours. You might have some kind of nerve injury due to either your novocaine injection or your tooth extraction. It seems to be not that uncommon when lower wisdom teeth are removed. I have come across posts from several people indicating that they cannot feel half of their tongue. I'm not sure if this is something that will go away over time or not.
