Hi bunnyhugs,

Welcome to the forum! I've taken both neurontin and Keppra and take my word these drugs can sometimes mess up a person terribly. When I was on neurontin it caused me to have status seizures where I would be out of it for 40 min. to 3 hrs. this lead to more brain damage. I finally found out that the drug can mess up a person really badly causing bleeding by lowering the blood platlet level and the drug co. making the drug was sued for over $210 million for the co. making the drug that can cause more seizures and brain damage. I got off the neurontin and had fewer seizures and then my Dr. put me on keppra last yr. in August and I've had over 100 more seizures since on this drug so I called the FDA and they sent me paper work on the drug and I found out the both the generic form and brand name of Keppra have been reported for increasing seizures for people. What you need to do is see an Epileptologist and have them do a DNA test on you to find out what drug will help you the most with the least side effects. This is what I had done and I'm taking Diamox, mysoline, to control my absence (petit mal), aura, and complex partial seizures. I've had epilepsy for 39 yrs. now I started having migraines and seizures when I was 10 yrs. old I also had brain surgery done to help reduce my seizures. You might want to start taking vitamin B 12 1000 mcg. once a day that has helped reduce my seizures greatly. Also stay away from nutra sweet because it will cause more electrical activity in the brain which can lead to seizures. Cell phones do the same thing and I was strictly told to stay away from them so I use a ham radio instead. If you stomach continues to bother you see a Gastro specialist, and in regards to your speach it could be the medication but I have a feeling that you might be having problems on the left side of your brain where your speech is. I wish you only the best and May God Bless You!

Sue
