I don't know if I would go back to the same surgeon, unless he is highly rated and this might have just been one of those bad luck outcomes.

I think a review of your case & surgery by an independent surgeon {or 2} for input would be worth your time.

And it seems at some point they should have set you up with some phys therapy - for pain relief as well as addressing the changes to your body.
