I tried some on at the store and just did not feel safe or secure in them.

There was another brand with a similar style that felt much better and was 10 bucks cheaper, but I still decided it wasn't worth the money.
Plus out in the country it just isn't feasible to wear that kind of shoe - unless you want a sprained ankle.
