Some bear them longer than others, although the wisdom as I have learned it is that replacement of the generator unit provides one a fresh battery unit while also availing of then newer technology. My understanding, and bear in mind no warranty of any sort is intended or implied in what I write here, is that insurance steps to the plate for manufacturer/physician recommended replacements so as to avoid undue realities of system failure, onset of pain, and the like. I will count myself fortunate if five years hence this wonder of wonders still functions as advertised.
