They check my kidneys every month. I get a bmp and glomerular filtration rate done.
IVIG is basically all protein and the kidneys have to be able to handle this and as we age, our kidney function declines, so that is one reason they don't like to give it to older people....altho 64 isn't old for IVIG.
I do have some trending on my labs that I watch, but it hasn't errupted....last month, I went over and under a bunch of normals, but the GFR was fine, so they haven't stopped it.
IVIG is serious medicine, no doubt. I worry about it all the time but it allows me to be up and doing things I didn't think I could do again....but that has taken pretty much 2 years....and it is still subtle.
