I'll have to find a picture of it, but my Kindle2 (2nd Generation Kindle) has a cover that has a book stand on it. I can set it on a table and it stands on it's own and I can sit and read without having to hold the Kindle.
With it's cover, I think the Kindle2 weighs about 1 pound. (without the cover it's about 15ounces....so the cover is about 1 ounce in weight because 16 ounces equal 1 pound)
I just got the 3rd Generation Kindle (Kindle3) about a week or two ago.
I'm still waiting for the company that made the cover for my Kindle2 to produce a similar cover (they had to wait for their new Kindles just the same as everyone else did) but the Kindle3 is smaller and lighter than the Kindle2.
I really love the Kindle3. I've been reading it without a cover and it's so much lighter than the Kindle2. I want a cover for it tho, mostly because I want some protection for it. I'm afraid I'm going to drop it, plus it's a little slippery by itself. But it's a LOT smaller than it's big brother. Still has the same 6 inch screen, but it's skinnier and lighter than the previous two generations of Kindles.
I did buy an Amazon brand cover from Amazon, just because I'm desperate for a cover for it, but I'm going to be buying another cover for it when the company that made the standing cover comes out with one. I've talked with the representative for that cover company on one of the Kindle forums and she says the covers will be ready for sale in about 3 weeks or less.
I really love all the Kindles I've owned. Gave the 1st one to my sister a month ago, still have my second one, but the 3rd generation one is so light that I really love it. Been having problems with my hands for a few months now, so it's great to have a lighter kindle to read with.
