Tresa, It's just like Jenn said. The immune system is highly complex. There are a lot of people around the world working on figuring out what different ways autoimmune diseases attack the body so they can come up with the appropriate treatments. There is something called a "Flow Cytometry Surface Marker" test that they can do to see if any of your immune markers are "off." Only an immunologist runs this kind of test and it's results are not necessarily reflective of a disease.

Some people do well on IVIG and others don't. Some respond to Cellcept while others do better on Imuran. Until they can pinpoint the different "types" of MG, which people like Angela Vincent are working on, they can't target them with the appropriate treatment.

What you can do is to keep your immune system as happy as you can! It's great that you are doing research.
