Lee, I also wear a c. collar, at times, though initially I wore it 24:7 based on my n.surgeon saying I should, except for bathing. (I've not had surgery.) Although I was following my n.surgeon's advice, my PT said I was losing more ROM (range of motion), and that I shouldn't wear the collar around-the-clock.

Might want to ask your surgeon, or surgeon's staff, the Q. you posted here. I noted where you did mention that you remove yours and can do so, but only briefly. Your doc is probably the best to give you the answer that is right for your situation/pain.
