In a previous thread the question was posed
ANY REGRETS?
yes a few..............i lived a religious childhood...............after leaving the Royal Navy in the early eighties I verged on becoming a Pentecostal Pastor,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,[my parents freaked out as i was christened a Catholic]
And now twenty years on....... i still attend no church [have no defined belief] and feel a touch lost at times...Yet i believe in the human spirit and
inner resolve
The Pope visited the UK last week [thursday-sunday]
one image stays in my mind
An old lady at a sheltered accomodation run by the 'Little sisters of the cross'
She among the people reaching out to touch the pope .........did so and looked scared to death and asked for a blessing [obviously unwell and in pain]
The Pope not only held her hand but blessed her forehead [he never did this to anyone else]............this lady looked shocked and in awe
and i shed a tear........................[so nice to see love in what ever form transfered in hope]
