You can ask about how he plans to address your pain control after surgery.

some get the pump ? where they can hit the button at anytime as needed. I'm not sure of the correct name for it.

Of course a skilled surgeon is a big plus for this , not a time for a beginner to be learning on you.
So you can also ask how many of these has he done per year, or in total...?

Don't feel obligated to stay with any Dr if you don't feel 100% sure - get another opinion from a qualified dr.
