This is the conversion for Vit D.

Vitamin D
1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D pg/mL 2.6 pmol/L
25-Hydroxyvitamin D ng/mL 2.496 nmol/L

from this list of testing
http://www.unc.edu/~rowlett/units/sc...ical_data.html
First concentration ng/ml is "conventional" unit (in US), the second concentration is SI unit (from another country)
So if Canada reports in milimoles you would
divide your reading of 45 by 2.496 to get the equiv in US concentration ng/ml.
This result assuming the more valid testing of 25-hydroxyvitamin D which is the preferred one...gives you a pretty low result. ==
18.03 ng/ml. This is far from normal. Your lowest target in ng/ml US value is 50ng/ml according to the newest research.
So you need to 1) clarify what concentration Canada uses in reporting medical testing, and and the test was indeed for 25-hydroxyvitamin D
Here is an article about Canada:

This detailed discussion about Vit D from Canadian researchers from 2007, uses nmols for the reporting.

To match what US patients get you need to divide your nmol reading by the factor given above. 2.496
The recommended dosing in US to raise 10 ng/ml in a test reading is 1000IU of D3.
This seems quite complicated to people who are not math driven, but living in another country you need to convert your results to American results when trying to dose. OR, you need to find the equivalent dosing in your country.
Otherwise you miss the chance to correct an abnormal thing completely. By not correcting it, you cannot reap the benefits of Vit D properly.
Here is the Wiki article on Vit D: (explains a little about ng/ml vs mmol numbers)
