Chiari I Survivor!
I just stumbled across this forum doing a little followup research on Chiari I. I had Chiari decompression surgery on 1/26/2010. The cerebellar tonsils extended 9mm below the foramen magnum, and I also had a large arachnoid cyst sitting above the cerebellum helping to push it down.
My surgery was successful (although I experienced some of the worst pain ever, mostly due to delays in getting pain meds, and developing high blood pressure post-op). I still have extremely stiff & painful neck muscles for which my doctor recently sent me to a therapy group that has a very specialized therapy protocol for the spine and it seems to be working. This company can be viewed at ***
It helps to read about other people experiences here, and know that I'm not alone in this! I don't know of anyone who has been through anything like this!
Thanks for being here and providing this service!
