Hi vRap,

I would just rinse with salt water, nothing else. The chemicals in savocol are irritating to the gum tissue and not really going to promote any type of healing. Salt water is the best natural rinse agent that there is.

The problem with massaging that lump is that it could make it feel more sore. The real issue is...... where's the problem exactly.... just under the gumline or in the bone? So yes, a small periapical xray will show if there is a problem going on in the bone.

a few things, should i be massaging it to remove the puss (the lump that is), and is savocol for a mouth rinse okay? it is the alcohol free version.
and could the x-ray be a simple one of those small xxrays performed at the dentist itself?
