Recently my wife was sent to a doctor working on SS behalf. My take on it is SS's interest in having a doctor look over the patient records and give the patient a minor exam. I was against this at first but then I realized SS position in this procedure. My belief is it boils down to spotting outright fraud where doctors and patients collude to defraud the government or someone who has slipped for some reason under the radar and ended up on the SS judges doorstep with a hang nail or someone who was very ill but no longer and has recovered perhaps. My wife's experience was the doctor looked at all her records, did a very brief, non-evasive checkup. The whole meeting was 30 minutes tops. If your records are in order indicating clearly (on the most part) that you have a serious condition, there should be no reason to worry yourself about it. That has been my experience.
