It stinks when we miss out on something special because of fatigue. It's such a difficult thing to explain. Try as we may to pace ourselves sometimes the fatigue just hits and all we can do is cave into it. Submit to it. Nothing else we can do.

I've quit using the word "tired" when I try to explain it to someone. One phrase I've started using is "utter and complete exhaustion". It seems to have more of a punch than just saying "tired". Because if one more person says to me "yeah, I get tired, too" I'm liable to use my last drop of energy to give them a purple nurple.
