The best ear plugs from my experience are the yellow ones that are cylindrical shaped. They are tougher to insert but they work better. the trick is to twist them, then insert them until you can barely grab them. They will swell back to original shape and work great.

The orange bell shaped ear plugs do not work nearly as well. Also, avoid any with strings. The strings conduct sound to the ear.

Some can handle a bit of alcohol. Others can not. Definitely no more than a glass per meal and best with the meal.

If you start to feel overwhelmed or over-stimulated, quietly walk out to a quiet area. That is why sitting in the rear is a good idea.

Merry Christmas to all.
