I guess others would ask, how diagnosed, what tests...the results? All those things affect how each of us is treated [age is NOT a treatment issue!] and how we can deal with it for the future....

The pain doesn't always seem to include a 'future', BUT there is!

PS the constipation could be due to the MEDS? Look at what's taken and web up the fine print...betcha the plugged-ness IS there! Omega Oil and liquid fiber stuffs are good to help things along... Don't know what care your Mom is under, but, you'd a thunk!?
