First, you must get your glucose under control! Use your meter and test frequently, adjust your insulin to your carb intake. If you don't know how, ask doc. Think about using an insulin pump. I love mine. Then, try ALA. 600 mg daily, I think, somebody will confirm that, and there may be other supplements that could reduce the pain.
Did you have tests to confirm the T1? Just because you use insulin now does not make you T1. I am, and always will be, an insulin dependent T2.
