One month is definitely too early to expect to be pain free or symptom free. I returned to work 6 weeks post op because I had to (husband unemployed and I used up my "vacation" time). See if you can get an rx for physical therapy. PTs can use different modalities to help the area begin to calm down. It could be RSD but it also may not be RSD yet. I seem to remember week 3 to 5 being worse than week 1 and 2 post surgery.
