Sorry but I have to brag! At least for a minute.
Saturday night we went to the Fireman's appreciation dinner. My husband is a captain on the local volunteer fire department. To go along with fighting fires, they also do rope rescue, water rescue and assist on medical calls. Well to go along with pointing out several times that my husband is almost always the one they call when something needs repaired, and that he does a lot of things that are above and beyond what is expected. He got two awards, the Chief's award and Officer of the year! Chief didn't know the association had picked him as Officer of the year until he had already made the decision to give his award to Dan.
They get a point for every class, drill, and call (2 if it's over 4 hours). Dan had the most for the whole department with 248! The assistant chief was a little behind him (but for some reason didn't get any award) the guy who got Fireman of the year had about 170 and the guy who got Rookie of the year was fourth in line for points with 148.
It was a very nice evening (Mom watched the kids for us to be able to go, just like she does for us every year) and the award is beautiful. It will be posted in the newspaper and I can't wait to get to work on the scrapbook I'm making for Dan for Christmas with all of his Fireman memorabilia.
Okay I'm done bragging, I just had to say how proud I am of him. I'm proud of him no matter what, but it was nice to see him noticed by the association (we already knew Chief appreciates him, he tells him all the time!) It was awesome
