I have read that the poles have shifted numerous times in the Earth's history. One of the possible pieces of evidence is the wolly mammoth found in Siberia with undigested plant material in his stomach. He was found in the frozen tundra under ice; the flowers in the stomach were those of a similar type found in Isreal, which is much more temperate a climate than Siberia. Those doing research on this think that the poles shifted so quickly that the mammoth froze within a short time, allowing the undigested material to stay put in his stomach, and that Siberia was once a temperate climate.
We can't do anything about possibilities like this. All we can do is make each day count as if it's our last. When you finally realize that the present moment is all you have control over, it frees you up to find the awesome in small things in life.
Okay, off my soapbox
