I should mention that CT's are notoriously "wrong" when it comes to measuring anything in the body. I had a situation where a radiologist measured my kidneys and he was off by about half, which is significant for a kidney (meaning it looked like it had shrunk). So it may be that the information you got was correct, given the restraints of the "tools" used to measure the thymus.
