Usually the pain docs will make you go thru the steroid injections before going to the SCS. You can ASK if you can have the SCS, but I would imagine they'll try the injections first to see if they work. If the FIRST one doesn't work, do NOT let them do any more!!!! The second one will NOT work if the first one doesn't. These doctors like to tell patients that the injectiions have to build up in the system but that's B.S. They do NOT build up in the system -- it's a fact that if the first one doesn't work, the second one won't either!!! Nor will the third or fourth. The doctors just want the $1,500 they get for doing them.
