There are bursae in the hip and the drawings show that.

Figure 1 shows them.

You can get a "strain" in your hip easily, esp as you age.
Try an ice pack on it, to see if that helps. Ice will take down an inflammation.

But that part of the body is complicated, bone, ligament and nerves all can cause pain there.
