I ended up putting chunks of potato, carrot, onion and celery in the slow cooker, nestled the turkey thigh on top (it was a big turkey) and just put in a couple of cups of water with spices. Decided not to try any fancy tricks.
It just got done a few minutes ago, and it's in the fridge all ready for tomorrow. Um num num. I ended up making gravy with the "juice", so Bob's really happy.
Slow cookers are for people who eat at night, not at noon, by the way. But it sure did smell good in here all day!
