Jim, this is music to my ears...in my book this is absolutely inhumane, and I cannot understand why we are not demonstrating, protesting, or staging freeze attacks at FDA head offices? People here are suffering over some bureaucratic bs or worse it is used so that DBS remains our only other option. I am at least going to start letter writing campaign against this.
How in the world can the FDA do this? Something in place for at least ten years provides pretty damn strong evidence that the treatment is not toxic and it works. To tell us that is for safety and standards is to insult or intelligence.
On the other hand, I can see why people are heading elsewhere for treatment but to establish residency takes too long! By that time it may be approved and used here. I have a few alternate scenarios:
1) Find a Brit to marry you as a business deal.
2) Seek Duodopa surgery in country that gives you the option of paying with a credit card. Don't forget the continent like France and HHe
3) Post to Euro disease assn forums to ask what can be done.
