IF the lump comes and goes it may be what is called a mucocele. This is a benign mucus sac within a salivary gland that initially forms from biting down too hard on the oral tissue inside the cheek. Once it occurs, it tends to recur over and over again. If it becomes annoying, it can be removed by an oral surgeon.

IF the lump is permanent, it could be a fibroma which is an overgrowth of the connective oral tissue. They can stay one size for many years or grow fairly large. These too can be removed by an oral surgeon.
