It sounds a bit like Thoracic outlet syndrome.... that often causes the hands/arms to fall asleep due to arm positions while sleeping.

what position are your arms in when they do this?
over head, or somewhat above head level?
folded under the pillow?

the coldness could be from the lack of blood flow also.
