Unless the pain subsides, you really are going to need an x-ray to rule out some sort of a fracture. And the doctor may put you into a "boot" of some sort to take pressure off and aid in healing.

I know the insurance thing is a source of stress, but the only way to get some answers is to get an image and an exam if pain continues.

If you do see a doctor, I would highly recommend you see a podiatrist (foot doc) instead of a General Practitioner. All these doctors work with is feet.
