darlindeb,

I am glad they ordered a nerve conduction test. That tells me they are looking for an impingement. However, if the pain is going upwards; headaches, etc. then the test may come back normal. Normally, the upper cervical levels with refer pain upwards. Truthfully, and with cervicogenic headaches, the only way to determine the pain generators is by injections, MRIs, CT scans, etc. I have had EMGs and a QSART on my legs and feet. The EMGs came back normal but I still had radiculopathy. And try the Zyrtec and see if it helps. If all else fails, I would definitely insist on a cervical MRI.

I want to add too that since my last fusion, C5/C6 I had been having spasms or pain in my upper back, shoulders, arms, hands, etc. And I saw my Neurosurgeon on Monday, and the VERY FIRST thing he did was to order a second MRI. I have looked at it and see nothing wrong that I can tell. So, he suspects the spasms are clamping down so hard that they are irritating the nerves OUTSIDE of the spine. But I don't see him again until March 13th.
