Have you tried watching TV with headphones on? I started by using TV ears. They are cordless and need batteries. There are some models that have rechargeable batteries. The headsets make it so I don't have background noise to confuse and exhaust my brain.
Radio Shack and other stores have TV Ears like sets. You can also buy them online. They cost about $25 to $30.
This may be a way you can watch TV and fill the boring empty time in the day.
