I too went through the low iron. I went into a bad flare and went to the hospital my doctor did all blood test and I was severely low in iron, vit D, vit A, vit E, I went into the hospital for 2 weeks each day I was given IV vitamins and a lot of iron. I still now have to take 2 iron pills every other day, beging of every week I take a vit d pill with 12,000 mg and am on various other vitamin pills and supplements. One thing I have heard is most anyone with cronic pain whether rsd or back pain, fibro. ect. all seem to end up low vit D. I was in the pain program in cleveland clinic and everyone in the program were severely low with vit D and that was 27 people with different pain issues but we all had that one thing in common and not one doctor could understand why. Do follow up with the endocronologist for the thyroid as I too started having issues with mine and I eventually got hypothyroidism which they couldnt understand why as it was perfect then within a few months it went down and then it began swelling. The doctors took the fluid out to see what it was but they said it was nothing. In a week it swelled up a week and began to become very pain full so we, my mom and I pushed for the to remove it. I know surgery isnt an option with RSD but I just knew something was wrong. Then after the surgery they came out and told us that they thank us for insisting on the removal of it as to find out the whole thing was cancer and they missed it. If I had just put it of the cancer they said could of gone into my throat and scull. We just always need to listen to what our bodies are telling us and not always go with the doctors as there are many time they just dont have a clue. Along with my thyroid going wrong I have 5 other friends with RSD who since of getting it their thyroids are either messed up or needed to be taken out. The doctors only think this is happening is because we all have severely low immune systems but isnt sure.
