I always ask for practical things if anyone asks me what I want for my birthday or Christmas. I've suggested gift cards for the grocery store, pharmacy and, when I had a car, the gas station. It's just easier for them to buy a gift card and easier for me to pick out exactly what I need. Plain old money is always great, too! It's been
years since I've gotten anything that I would consider frivolous.
I think the last really extravagant gift I got was from DH probably 14 or 15 years ago. It was a Dooney and Burke purse and wallet. It was for my birthday and he stopped at the mall to buy it on his way home from work.....
on my birthday.
