Hope you can take the holiday weekend to relax and heal, take it easy being off work.
The reason for time off of work is not the pain issue, but allowing inflamed nerves to heal. You really want as few signals going to them. Much like a woman after C-section, the area is healing from pulling probing and stitched. To avoid scarring, adhesion and other complications she needs 2 weeks longer then a reg birth.
With tos surgery, resting the nerves is what helps heal and prevents the burning. That is a sign of a very unhappy nerve system. Even when returning, you are trying to sleep, shower, prepare meals, driving paper pushing, phone calls, reaching and file work, computer sitting with the arms out, holding the next up where you could be relaxing in the recliner.
Not your mom or spouse but I would go to work for ya before I would allow you to go.
If it was your appendix you would have been off, and expected to be off to let the body heal.
Sorry to rant, but after going through the surgery, hate to have the nerves create a worse issue.
Please rest and be careful.
