Well, we know of “Duke” the Florida surgeon from BT1, whose teenage daughter had a near miraculous recovery from ketamine infusions.

Beyond that, my anecdotal information suggests that some docs are nearly monomaniacal about getting blocks at the first indication of trauma, well before chronic pain has set in. For all I know, that may well prove to be the "gold standard" for treatment in the future.
