I have had seizures. There are many different seizures that do not include the fits' or trembling.

What you describe sounds a bit like an absence seizure. I had absence seizure long ago. Only problem, absence seizures are not normally obvious to the subject. Others may notice a blank stare and other odd observations.

You need to explain this to your daughter. If she is old enough to observe you, she can be a big help in understanding what is happening. Tell your doctor. Sooner rather than later.

There are plenty of effective meds to control such seizures. Your doctor will probably ask for an EEG. Mine did but it was inconclusive. I was put on Dilantin (phenytoin) and later phenobarbitol when the Dilantin messed up my gums (a common side effect)

Try not to get to anxious. It will only make things worse. Your doctor should be able to help you successfully. I know it is scary.

I can still remember one of my seizures from 1970. On a double date, saw Love Story, had some pizza afterward. Had a petit mal seizure(absence is the current term) as we sat in a booth at the pizza parlor. Earlier that day, I had a EEG done but no evidence of seizure activity.

This reminds me. I need to go take my Neurontin so I don't seize during my sleep. Actually, I usually only twitch just as I start to fall asleep. But then, sometimes I have sleep behaviors that wake up my wife. The Neurontin helps and is side effect free for me.

My best to you and your little girl.
