A few months before I was diagnosed, I took a couple of days of work and did nothing but sleep. My husband was worried...I never nap, and I just stayed in bed except to eat and pee.
The last few months of work, and the first few months of retirement, I slept about 10-11 hours a night. But I truly think it was the rest I needed, not so much the sleep.
Now, I'm tired but mostly not "sleepy". Sometimes I feel as though I can't keep my eyes open, but I can sit in the chair with my eyes closed and not fall asleep. It's so frutrating to describe to people. Thank God my PCP at the time of my diagnosis got it, that it wasn't a sleep disorder. I never dozed off at my desk, etc.
It's not physical fatigue, it's not sleepiness, and it's not even brain fatigue (though I do have all those). It's a fourth category, in addition to those three, that I've never quite been able to define.
