The stock markets have been moderately good to us, but ya gotta play them a little. Like buy an S&P 500 index fund when the index drops below 800 and sell when it gets alot higher. But beware:

S&P 500 index April 1999: 1361
S&P 500 index right now: 1346

Not a very good long term thing.
