Default Migraines, Prodromes, Meds and such

Our family member did use Topamax which helped but also caused cognitive impairment while using it. Felt it was an acceptable price to pay.

Some find CoQ10 which helps mitochondrial function can help.

It depends on the cause.

Get hormones checked. Diet changes can help some people as they may have food sensitivities. Allergies can be problematic.

We were told that when taking a medicine such as Zomig and Axert, they must be taken right at the very earliest of signs - in the earliest of prodrome stage, in order to most be effective. The problem with that is we don't always know when that is! Apparently some service dogs can detect migraine prodromes (here is a book that has that in it) just like a seizure alert dog can detect seizures before they happen.
