Hi Annie,

its sounds like you had the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACTH_stimulation_test 2 minutes looking on wikipedia and you would have found it.

They do a blood draw to test your base cortisol level then give you a drug to stimulate your adrenal gland. They leave it a period of time before drawing blood again to see how they have responded. This test must be done before 9am or it is a total waste of time. You have the highest amount of cortisol naturally in your system by 9am.

When I had it done last year my base cortisol was low but my adrenal glands responded. It is a test for Addison's Disease. It made me feel rough for many days afterwards, however that could have been due to the fact that my body doesn't really do upright!
