Smile Back to the gym!!!

I have been back to the gym 4 times now. over did it last saturday, only made it 15 minutes on the stair master. Tuesday was the beginners fitness class, 30minutes of light weights and 30 minutes of low impact cardio, I then did another 15 minutes on stair masters, did some leg presses and some other leg exercises with weights. I over did that...even my feet were sore by the next day.In the class we did things like lunges, and squats and abdominal core training. and then a bit of balancing at the end...I have no balance I discovered.
I was dieing...and this is the beginning class.
So it is definately where I need to start.
I went on thursday but not to the class just did weights and stair masters.
Today was a great day.
They have a body blade to use for shoulder strengthing, weights, endless rope, arm bike, other weight machines for upper arms. Not doing any leg weights for now...leave that for the class. which I have changed my schedule for work to allow me to go to this 9;30am class on tuesdays and thursdays.
Today, I talked with a trainer and he helped me set some goals.
I want to be able to run a 5 K race....that is 3.2 miles.
using the stair masters is not going to help me run...
we talked about total body fitness.
I need to eat some protein in the morning for breakfast, so I bought some "muscle milk" drinks with 20 grams of protein the equivalency to 3 eggs.
Then later I used a row machine, easy level for 15 minutes...it is cardio for arms and back.
Then I warmed up with a fast walk on the tred mill for 5 min then
ran at 5.5 MPH for 15 minutes.
that was a good work out.
I could feel all of the 10 pounds that I gained giggling!!!!
since november when I quit lifting weights...that was 6 months ago. I have lost alot of ground. the trainer said that we have muscle memory and it should not take that long to regain that muscle strength.
I am trying to be smart about my gym usage. I want to get lean and lose some of the fat that I gained and build more muscle which weighs more than fat.I have that extra 10 pounds right at my belly, the biggest cardio risk place to have belly fat...i wish I could just push that 10 pounds into my muscles!
