Default My cable box keeps rebooting

Okay, I have a REAL challenge for all of you.

I have solved my remote problem. I have my Faraday Cage to shield the signal and that problem is solved.

So I have NEW PROBLEM.

Started last month. My left cable box goes off when I aim the remote at it. Doesn't matter which buttom I push, it can be the number zero, it can be the up and down channel button, if I press it, the cable box goes off and reboots itself.

So some weeks ago I phoned up Direct TV, they came to my house, they CHANGED the cable box, they CHANGED THE REMOTE, they changed the wiring to the MULTI-SWITCH and everything worked fine.

Oh, just so you know I have 3 cable boxes in my home. Two are in my bedroom and one is the one Alan watches in the living room. And just so you know, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH THE OTHER TWO CABLE BOXES. They never go off and reboot themselves when a remote is aimed at them.

So they mailed me a NEW remote. Everything was fine for a week or two. Then it started happening again. I then changed where the boxes are plugged into the multiswitch (I wanted to rule out the multiswitch). It happened again, SO IT'S NOT THE MULTISWITCH, IT'S NOT THE WIRING, IT'S A NEW CABLE BOX AND A NEW REMOTE.

So when it happened today, I GOT IT ON TAPE. Oh, and just so you think this only happens when the remote is aimed at it, I walked over to the cable box itself and pressed the up channel button and YOU GUESSED IT, it went off and rebooted itself.

So I got to thinking. It's not wiring, it's not the multiswitch. So I'm thinking to myself

Why would a cable box keep going on and off? Could it be that it is next to the right set up?? Maybe it's a frequency thing?

THEN I HAD A LIGHTBULT MOMENT.

I looked at the left setup and saw that the left cable box (which is metal), is sitting on top of the VCR which has a metal covering. I said "Maybe the metal on metal is causing a glitch when I try and change channels??

So I said to myself "what can I place BETWEEN the cable box and the vcr so that ONE does NOT interfere with the other? " It has to be RUBBER, right?

I found my HOT WATER BOTTLE!!!

I am now going to place it between the cable box and the vcr.

WILL UPDATE.

Anyone think I have a shot here??

And if this DOESN'T WORK, my CABLE BOX IS HAUNTED!!!!

Here is the video I made

Thanks for any suggestions!!!!
