As her parent, I need to support her, but am terrified inside at the idea of such an invasive operation and wonder if there are other parents out there who have had their children undergo such a procedure, and whether or not it was a success?
Thank you for listening,

Hi Mary,
It has to be scary as anything to have to think of your daughter having such a procedure. But on the positive side my husband, my boss and her husband have all had multiple spinal fusions all with good results. In all three cases the surgeries where performed in NYC 2 at the Hospital for Special Surgery and 3 at NYU - Center for Joint Disease. All 3 had top, top doctors in there field. Where is your daughter having her procedure? The best recovery I have seen is my bosses husband he had a fusion 6 weeks ago and they did an posterior and anterior type procedure, he is a older gentlemen about 62 and would you believe he's back at work PT already, driving and has done wonderful.
I'm sure others have directed you to the Spinal Section on this site it has great information and you might find someone who has gone through what you are. I wish your daughter the best and my prayers will be with her.
Keep us posted.
