Megan,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Sorry for you reason for being here.

As roadrunner said, there is not much the doctors can do. There are things that you can do. The injured brain is usually polluted with the toxins and by-products of the injury cascade. brain injury is not a one time event. It is a cascade of events as the brain tries to protect itself from the malfunctioning damaged brain cells.

One thing that is a good start (but not a cure) is nutrition. Getting good B vitamins plus Omega 3's and all of the anti-oxidants is a worthwhile effort. There are numerous posts with more details. Just search this forum for "vitamin".

There is an excellent resource in a free online book by Dr Glen Johnson at www.tbiguide.com His TBI Survival Guide helps you understand your symptoms. It should be down loaded and printed out.

Once you understand your symptoms, your anxiety level can be reduced thus freeing your brain from he anxiety burden that slows recovery.

It is sad but true that most of us will never be the same person again. But, we can still have a full life once we learn to live with and work-around our limitations.

It is truly difficult to find a professional who understands Post Concussion Syndrome and will listen to us. The problem is with the medical industry, not the patient.

Are you able to work and complete the basics functions of life (ADL's, Activities for Daily Living)?

What symptoms are causing you the most struggle?

There are many compassionate and understanding people here who can help with suggestions they learned from their own struggles.

My best to you.
