Confused 13 year old daughter scheduled for T4-L4 posterior spina fusion with instrumentation

In March 2011 my 13 year old daughter was diagnosed with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. At last check her lumbar and thoracic curves were approaching 60 degrees and to add insult to injury there is now a 3rd. slight curve cervically. In an effort to reduce the levels of fusion required in her lumbar spine she underwent surgery 10 days ago to insert 4 screws in the growth plates of her right leg to slow the growth and allow the shorter left leg to catch-up thus evening out the discrepancy. She is currently scheduled for posterior spinal fusion of T4-L4 vertebre with harrington instrumentation in July @ Riley Hospital for children in Indianapoolis.I am mortified, as you can probably imagine!the closer we get to D-day,the more frightened I am becoming. She is amazing! We have done our best to be honest and informative when discussing the details with her and she remains to be the strongest, bravest person that I know!I would like to connect with others who have experienced this surgery because I'm very concerned about the long term affects.
