I agree that having a full, definite, can't-take-it-back diagnosis is almost something tangible you can cling to, a perverse comfort in a way. Just before my diagnosis, I had a total meltdown, wailing to my poor husband "There is something REAL wrong with me, and they HAVE to find out what it is, because if they DON't, then it means I've lost my MIIIIIIIINNNNNDDDDD! WAAAAAHHHHH!"
