Hi Kidgie,

Very sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.
Just to clarify your post a bit... it sounds like you've had a root canal procedure and a crown lengthening done on an upper tooth. Therefore, the tooth is still present in your mouth, it has not been extracted. During a root canal procedure, the inside of the roots of the teeth are treated but the entire tooth stays intact. A crown lengthening procedure removes gum tissue and some bone around the tooth to elongate the tooth out from the gumline so a crown can be fitted on the tooth.

It sounds to me like the tooth is still infected, which unfortunately is always the case after a root canal procedure, and it has spread to your sinuses. In addition to that, the trauma from the crown lengthening procedure has caused additional inflammation. It is also possible that some of the injections during your dental work have (temporarily) injured/traumatized some nerves which does happen especially when there is a long term infection brewing in the area of the injections.

A regular CT scan will not show a tooth or oral bone infection. A 3D dental CT scan will. Is that what you had done?

You may need to reconsider whether or not it is wise to keep this tooth since it has caused such alot of pain and suffering. Has your dentist offered you the option of removing it?

QUOTE=kidgie;781256]In late January I went to a dentist for a root canal distraction. He said that my tooth was so decayed that I need a crown lenghening to fit a crown. this dentist was not a root canal specialist . RED FLAG! should of ran out at that point. A day ater the root canal extraction I started getting hot and cold flashes on my left side of my face and then it became numb. 3 week later I can breathe through my nose properly. 4 months later I now have facial fullness and is hard to breath freely. Ive gone to an ENT, neurologist, gastrologist, cardiogist. Had chest xrays, ct scans and mris. Theh ENT said I had minor sinusitis and that should not cause the problem . I took antibioticst but no difference. When I went to the neurologist he said it was left trigemenial neuropathy caused by injections and the numbness I was feeling was anxiety.. He gave me gabapentin. To make long story short, I still feel this way and it has ruined my life. I thought it was trigmenial neuralgia but I dont feel that shooting pain. I am now anxious and pace and cry alot because I feel like im suffocating. Hoping for a miracle at this point. the neurologist thinks it will go away, but as time passes Im not sure about that. If it was nerve damage would I feel pain or not necessarily. Just need to breath better to get through but it is so hard.I have to be medicated just to be functional. I dont know anymore what it could be[/QUOTE]
