The tuning fork test--
--is to measure the sensory nerves that subsume the sensation of mechanical vibration, which are myelinated nerves that split off from major nerve trunks.
While the ability to feel the vibration of a tuning fork for long periods normally decreases with age, being able to feel it vibrate against you, and noticing the reduction in the vibration as the seconds pass, it usually a good sign.
